The first transit point after leaving Ukraine was Moldova. After settling in the capital, I continued painting while waiting for the next voyage. For your information, I have been working as a seaman for 20 years. Since the format of a poor artist's life was contrary to my vision of the world, in my youth I chose this profession as an insurance against creative poverty. When I said goodbye to my mother, who had come with my father to visit me, I realized that our meeting might be the last as she had been struggling with a serious illness for a long time. Her parting words that day were: "You will become a great artist", said with a special faith and sincerity, peculiar only to people on the brink of death. This phrase is forever etched in my mind as the most powerful motivation and call to immediate action.
I decided to travel to Barcelona, postponing my flight indefinitely in order to introduce my intricate art to the Spanish public. When the bus arrived at my destination, I found myself standing all alone, at 3 a.m., in the middle of the city, suitcase in hand and a single painting from Moldova. Waking up in the morning at a refugee reception center, I met a guy who would later determine my six-month Spanish destiny.

Coincidentally, his acquaintances included a venerable Catalan art dealer known for his dealings in paintings by the great Dali. Our first meeting was a success and I managed to plunge him into the depths of my associativism and the artwork you see now is a last painting from Calossen Foms series.

The main characters are two adopted sisters and their inhuman stepmother. The painting is dedicated to all those who have ever felt the bitterness of being abandoned or who have experienced domestic violence and all the consequences of its impact on the psyche.
